Mario Fulmer

Mario Fulmer is from the Tlingit tribe of Southeast, Alaska. He has family ties to the Village of Hoonah and spent his childhood in Ketchikan. His Tlingit name is Kaa L’ee and he is from the T’akdeintaan (Raven clan from the outercoast) of the Xúna Kaawu with ancestral ties to the Tlingit of Glacier Bay.

He is the Visitor Programs Manager for Alaska Native Voices Educational Institute [501 C (3) non-profit] and Alaska Native Voices LLC (HTC subsidiary). Both organizations were established through the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) 1971 through Huna Totem Corporation (HTC), an ANCSA Village Corporation.

He spends time with his family harvesting and participating in cultural activities to strengthen and support the Tlingit culture. Over the years he has performed with different Tlingit dance troupes and multi-cultural Alaska Native dance troupes: Yees Ku Oo, ANCHA (Alaska Native Cultural Heritage Association), Tlingit Kusti, Kuteeya, Mt. Fairweather Dancers, and Haandei I Jin.

He has volunteered his time with the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association since 2014 and is a firm believer in Native peoples telling their own stories.

As a tourism professional, he believes that representing our indigenous cultures with integrity, knowledge, strength, thoughtfulness, empathy, patience, and determination are a few ways that we can understand our past, acknowledge the present, and perpetuate our indigenous cultures into the future.
