Ms. Lenna Aoki has served as the General Counsel to Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) for the past five years. She currently handles all issues arising under the jurisdiction of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs as well as a myriad of domestic policy issues, including education and the arts, tourism, labor, judiciary, and social security. Prior to joining the Schatz office, Lenna served in a wide range of Executive and Legislative Branch positions, including: General Counsel to Senator Daniel Akaka, Chairman, Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, Director of Congressional Affairs at the Department of the Interior during the Clinton Administration, Staff Director of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee under the leadership of Senator Reid, and majority counsel for Senator Daniel Inouye, Chairman, Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. She also worked in the private sector as President and CEO of Aoki and Associates, a small public policy firm she founded. Lenna received a BA in History from Yale College and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
